Enticements

Animals that do not readily accept pelleted feeds may be enticed to do so if the feed carries an odor that induces ingestion. Color development is an important consideration in aquarium species and some animals produced for human food. External coloration is desired in aquarium species. Pink flesh in cultured salmon is desired by much of the consuming pubHc. Coloration, whether external or of the flesh, can be achieved by incorporating ingredients that contain pigments or by adding extracts or synthetic compounds. One class of additives that imparts color is the carotenoids. 

The relatively low capital cost of the simple batch reactor is its most enticing feature. The inabiUty to operate under pressure typically limits the simple batch reactor to use with the higher alkenes ie, octenes, nonenes, and dodecenes. For mainly economic reasons, these reactors are usually mn at phenol to alkene mole ratios of between 0.9 and 1.1 to 1. 

Similaily, the entice equilibiium curve is calculated and is plotted in Figure 10. The feed is at the boiFng point so the q line is drawn vertically with an infinite slope.

In your particular business, it may be profitable to sell some products below cost as an enticement to capture further business where you can make more profit. This will create a force to drive down costs. Remember that if you control change you control cost, so the more stable your processes the less they cost. 

Enticements to involve the retail customer base, as well as the industrial sector, in the solutions desired became popular. Interruption of large commercial load, a provision by contract, had long been used to offset capacity shortages. Interest in this method mounted. In addition, retail customers were provided enticements to cut load, either by manual participation or by automatic devices. These enticements will like continue into the future. 

Experience has shown that this enticing assessment is, in fact, too cautious cellular automata carry great potential for revealing hitherto unexpected principles not only in biology and physics but also in chemistry and a host of other fields as well. 

The present chapter has no ambition to cover all these topics. We focus solely on the information content of the two-pathway coherent control approach, where the energy-domain, single quantum states approach to the control problem simplifies the phase information and allows analysis at the most fundamental level. We regret having to limit the scope of this chapter and thus exclude much of the relevant literature. We hope, however, that this contribution will entice the reader to explore related literature of relevance. 

We hope that this book serves as a useful guide to the field and that it functions as both a reference and as an enticement to others to enter this field. 

If you take a pure sample of ethanol, and run its NMR spectrum in dry CDCI3, the hydroxyl proton will appear as a well-defined triplet, which couples to the adjacent -CH2-, rendering it a multiplet. This is because the hydroxyl proton remains on the oxygen for relatively long periods of time, as there is nothing in the solution to entice it off, i.e., exchange (if any) is said to be very slow on the NMR timescale (less than about 1 s). 

If you have the facility to acquire good quality spectra of the types discussed in this chapter and the one preceding it, then you should be well positioned to tackle virtually any problem that comes your way. We have covered what in our view are the most important and relevant techniques - but there are many others you may have heard of, all with their own enticing sounding acronyms. We ll now take a look at some of them and try to outline some of their potential uses as well as their shortcomings. 

Mass spectrometry requires that the material being studied be converted into a vapor. Great strides have been taken in recent years to address this problem, especially in enticing large, thermally fragile (bio)molecules into the vapor state. Matrix assisted laser ionization-desorption (MALDI) and electrospray ionization (ESI) are two current forefront methods that accomplish this task. Even components of bacteria and intact viruses are being examined with these approaches. John B. Fenn and Koichi Tanaka shared in the award of a Nobel Prize in 2002 for their respective contributions to development of electrospray ionization and soft laser desorption.
