Table 9-42 presents information on some cost indices for the United States. Engineering News-Record updates its construction-cost index in March, June, September, and December. The Oil and Gas Journal gives the Nelson-Farrar refinery indices in the first issue of each quarter. The Chemical Engineering plant-cost index and Marshall and Swift equipment-cost index are given in each issue of the pubhcation Chemical Engineering. Derivation of the base values is referred to in the respective publications.

Most of the known microorganisms to be active for BDS (by the date that patent [408] was introduced), were considered in this invention. With engineering derivations, particularly those that include models with differential equations, I look for accurate representation of boundary conditions and initial conditions for these equations. Often an author will not present these, and without them these equations are meaningless. Some manuscripts, however, provide too much detail of certain types of derivations and models, particularly when these can be found in prior publications. In this case, I usually suggest a more concise representation in which the key equations, the initial and boundary conditions, and then the solution are presented. When such an equation is presented, I check that the equation is actually used in the paper. Often the derivation is presented, but the equation is never really used. This leads me to suggest that the derivation be eliminated from the manuscript and appropriate citation be made to other literature references. 

Table II lists 13 universities in which chemical engineering derived from some department other than existing chemistry departments.

Intermediates consist of ABS, SAN, PMMA (acrylics) and engineering derivatives of cellulose like CAB (cellulose acetate butyrate), their relative price reaching around 2 (on the basis of PE as unity). Some consider these polymers at the low range of engineering polymers, due to their physical properties. (PP is frequently sorted as such.)... 

SCR-NHj relies on a defined dosage of NH (or an NH precursor) where the levels of reductant dosed are comparable to the levels of NOx that require reduction (recall that the latter changes as a function of driving conditions). Problems with over- or under-dosing the NH will result in the emission of NOx (either indirectly through atmospheric NHj oxidation following NHj slip, or directly if insufficient reductant is added to reduce the engine-derived NOx).

A faithful account of those accidents, and of the means by which the consequences were met, was really more valuable than a description of the most successful works. The older Engineers derived their most useful store of experience from the observations of those casualties which had occurred to their own and to other works, and it was most important that they should be faithfully recorded in the archives of the Institution.
