Energy mix

Styrene—butadiene—styrene modified bitumen is an elastomeric material mixed into an asphalt between 10 and 15%. By using high energy mixing, the SBS is uniformly dispersed throughout the asphalt to form a network, referred to as phase reversal because the minor component s (SBS) physical properties are displayed by the final mixture. A properly formulated SBS asphalt blend has an elongation of 100% or greater and is flexible down to temperatures below —6°C.

To ensure a viable future for nuclear power as a key component of the world s energy mix, nuclear energy research and development is key.

The challenge for the whole PV sector is to reduce manufacturing costs and increase volumes in order to provide electricity at prices comparable to conventional sources (and therefore being capable of getting rid of incentives) and to represent a much larger share in the energy mix compared with the negligible numbers of today (well below 0.1% of the electricity supply world-wide).

But a "worse case" condition could result in far greater imports of oil than the Bureau of Mines is forecasting. Unfortunately, coal will not be able to fill its relatively minor role in the U.S. energy mix unless we quickly come to our senses and remove all the obstacles which prevent coal from realizing its full potential.
