Employee network groups

A number of civil engineering organizations interviewed as part of this effort have convened diversity committees or diversity boards. For example, in 1992, PB started a Diversity Oversight Committee sponsored by the chief operating officer. Committee chairs from the various employee network groups are members, along with senior HR staff and recruitment officers - that means all the decision-makers are in the room, says Tracey Bessellieu. The Committee considers measurements and data provided by the HR department to monitor recruitment and internship efforts, and to mentor, retain, and help further career oppormnities for women and all other protected classes. ... 

Billy M. Williams For my other point, you mentioned your affinity groups and employee networks. Within Dow, we have had in place the past several years companywide affinity networks. We now have a women s innovation network, an Asian development network, an African American network, a Hispanic network, and a gay and lesbian network across the company, which we have found to be effective in providing the type of environment that you talked about and that has been discussed in other venues here. 

At Weyerhaeuser, we have strengthened our commitment to employee networks and councils and have sponsored several new business support networks, including Generation Next, Women in Action, Hispanic Opportunities for Leadership Achievement (iHOLA), Weyerhaeuser Black Employee Network (W-BEA), Weyerhaeuser Asian Business Network (WABN), ACCESS (focused on people with disabilities), our Veterans Group, and COLORS (our gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender resource group). 

Use your knowledge and the employee networks to select safety committee members, always keeping in mind the need for a diverse group. 

Access control decision function are defined using access right lists,7 such as Access Control Lists (ACLs), and these allow the allocation of use, read, write, execute, delete, or create privileges. Access controls enable a system to be designed in such way that a supervisor, for example, will be able to access information on a group of employees, without everyone else on the network having access to this information. 

The social security system covers health services for government employees, managed by the Social Insurance Institute of State Employees (ISSSTE), and for private-sector workers, managed by the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). The two agencies operate their own networks of hospitals and clinics and provide similar benefits. Some other smaller social security agencies exist, providing medical services for special groups such as the army, navy, and state oil company personnel. 

Employees felt a strong sense of inclusion when they were able to connect and build relationships with other employees in the company. Sometimes these relationships helped create support groups of employees with various commonalities. One female Big Store employee said that at a women s conference, All the women together, were able to network, mentor, and motivate. ... 

When you go to the break room or approach a group of employees, what response do you get Do employees talk to you Or does the room go silent The type of response can give you an indication of whether you are tied into the informal network of employees or considered an outsider.
