Figure 6. Elongation and termination reactions as enabled by the action of P4-GalT. P4-Gal-actosylation blocks the action of the branching GlcNAcTs, Man-ase II and core a6-FucT (c./ Figures 2 and 3). By way of contrast, it opens the window of action for the elongating (poly-lactosaminoglycan-forming) and terminating enzymes shown. The reactions cannot only occur with the di-antennary substrate shown, but also with tri- and tetra-antennary, bisected, and hybrid structures. Figure 6. Mamzen Oil Co. has developed various Ziegler-Natta catalysts that can produce poly(butadiene-i //-prop5iene) (PBR) (78). PBR shows tack (self-adhesion) and green (unvulcanized) dynamic properties superior to those of BR and EPDM. Carbon black-loaded vulcanizates can be compounded to give high strength and elongation at break (79,80). PBR can also be covulcanized with SBR, BR, and EPDM. [Pg.185]

A series of poly(ester-urethane) urea triblock copolymers have been synthesized and characterized by Wagner et al/ using PCL, polyethylene glycol, and 1,4 diisocyanatobutane with either lysine ethyl ester or putrescine, as the chain extender. These materials have shown the elongation at break from 325% to 560% and tensile strengths from 8 to 20 MPa. Degradation products of this kind of materials did not show any toxicity on cells. [Pg.237]

Fig. 135.—The relationship between the equilibrium retractive force T(x (in lbs./in.2) at 241 °C for various multilinked poly (e-caproamides) at the extensions (a) indicated, and their equilibrium swelling ratios in m-cresol at 30°C. O, tetralinked polymers octa-linked polymers. The lines have been calculated according to Eq. (41), with appropriate revision for the octafunctional case (broken lines), an arbitrary value being assigned to the parameter Xi for each elongation. (Schaefgen and Flory.33)... The poly(C)-directed oligoguanylate synthesis from guanosine 5 -phosphoric 2-methylimidazolide has been studied kinetically.11571 An intermediate elongation process on polycytidylate acting as template is illustrated schematically below. [Pg.273]
