Elevators inspection

Most emphasis is placed on a program of rigorous preventive maintenance. Appropriate climate conditions can help to prevent mold attack, which typically only occurs at elevated relative humidity. Storage furniture which provides an effective barrier for insects, regular inspection of the collections, monitoring of all collection areas with insect traps, and access control measures which minimize the chance of insect entry into the collection areas, are some aspects of an effective pest control management program (175). 

Integral-type pipe attachments in elevated temperature service are subjected to the same design, material, fabrication, and inspection requirements as the pipe to which they are attached.

If collar-pull elevators are used, the bearing surface should be carefully inspected for (1) uneven wear, which may produce a side lift on the coupling with danger of Jumping it off, and (2) uniform distribution of the load where applied over the bearing face of the coupling. 

The nurse takes a dietary history, focusing on the types of foods normally included in the diet. Vital signs and weight are recorded. The skin and eyelids are inspected for evidence of xanthomas (flat or elevated yellowish deposits) that may be seen in the more severe forms of hyperlipidemia. 

The last two applications, while convenient and initially appealing, require more maintenance and inspection than a simple, ground level monitor. Significant reactive forces can be generated and, therefore, the support structures must be properly engineered. Elevated monitors also require support and hydraulics to be protected by a water spray system if exposed to fires. An elevated monitor is shown in Eigure 7-12. 

Fire safety practices such as housekeeping, hot work permits, and elevated work should be in place during installation. The owner s representative should make periodic progress inspections to check for nonconformance issues and good work practices. 

In selecting the machines of choice, the use of specific speed and diameter best describe the flow. Figure 10-64 shows the characteristics of the three types of compressors. Other considerations in chemical plant service such as problems with gases which may be corrosive or have abrasive solids in suspension must be dealt with. Gases at elevated temperatures may create a potential explosion hazard, while air at the same temperatures may be handled quite normally minute amounts of lubricating oil or water may contaminate the process gas and so may not be permissible, and for continuous-process use, a high degree of equipment reliability is required, since frequent shutdowns for inspection or maintenance cannot be tolerated. 

Most manufacturers provide a written response to the FDA-483, either disputing the findings or addressing how they will correct the issues and how problems are to be corrected. Negotiations typically proceed for months or years until the inspectional problems and issues are resolved or the FDA elects to pursue elevated enforcement. The agency retains discretion to pursue elevated enforcement if it concludes that there is a significant risk of harm to patients, with such action being more likely where patient harm is more likely or more serious. 

Section 305 Proceedings Due to the nature of the inspection process, a company that the FDA deems is in violation of the cGMPs should not be surprised when a warning letter or more elevated enforcement techniques are implemented. Even so, the FDA sometimes issues a formal form of notice that criminal charges will be brought by what is called a Section 305 notice. 

Draft readings are a comparison of two pressures taken at the same elevation and are traditionally quoted in inches of water gauge. Whereas it is true that if you open an inspection port on a heater in an area of positive draft, you are liable to singe your eyebrows if you wish to really study or make sense of a set of draft readings for a furnace, you must first normalize the data.
