It is not surprising that the samples giving the most pronounced deviation from the linear correlation in Fig. 5 also exhibit the most unfavourable metal/phosphorus ratios (greater than 1.10 see chemical compositions in Table 1). Within the experimental error of diffuse-reflectance measurements it is, therefore, possible to estimate the amount of framework cobalt and, hence, the number of catalytically active sites per mass unit.
