Electrophysiology recording solutions

For electrophysiology, the culture coverslips are transferred to a bath of one of the standard recording solutions. Records are made in patch-clamp configurations (O Dowd and Aldrich 1988 Wu et al. 1990 Leung and Byerly 1991 Saito and Wu 1991 Zhao and Wu... [Pg.304]

Electrophysiological Experiments. Guinea pig myocardial cells prepared as described previously 24) were superfused at 37 C with a Tyrode solution. Electrical properties of the myocytes were examined by the patch-clamp methods (25) using fire-polished pipettes. The current was measured by means of a patch-clamp amplifier, stored on the tape through a digital PCM data recording system, and analyzed with a computer. [Pg.134]

Figure 10.3 Electrophysiological response of the CHC sensillum to nestmate or non-nestmate CHCs with or without CjapCSP. Left column Recordings to stimulus solutions of 10 mM NaCI, 10 mM NaCI plus CSP and 10 mM NaCI plus bovine serum albumin (BSA). Middle column Recordings to non-nestmate CHCs dissolved in the same stimulus solutions. Right column Recordings to nestmate CHCs dissolved in the same stimulus solutions. In electrophysiology, a body surface potential is often recorded, with the purpose of characterizing the unknown bioelectric source in position, size, and direction. To go from measured potentials in a known conductive medium and calculate back to the source properties is called an inverse problem. Usually there are infinitely many possible solutions to a posed problem (see Figure 8.11(c)). Important classical patient examination methods such as electrocardiogram and electroencephalogram are aimed at characterizing properties of the source organ, and are thus based upon more or less empirical solutions to the inverse problem. [Pg.142]

We have studied the electrophysiological properties of outer mitochondria membranes incorporated in liposomes, using the patch-clamp technique. The proteoliposomes were prepared and enlarged in 150 mM KCl, 0.1 mM CaCh, and 20 mM HEPES, and the same solution was used in the recording pipette. Liposome-attached and inside-out patches were obtained. [Pg.553]

The study of intravitreal application of lekosim (0.05 Fip in 1.0 of saline solution) in treatment patients with traumatic hemophthalmia was carried out on 22 persons (17-54 years). The data of ophthalmological and electrophysiological examination of the retina were classified as positive. Lekosim was administered by injection into the central vitreous body. Prior to injection incisions of sclera were made at 5-6 mm from limbus. The incisions were 2/3 of the sclera thickness. The treatment course comprised 1-3 injections given repeatedly every two weeks. The transparency of the vitreous body and increase of visual acuity (0.2-1.0) were recorded 3 month following the treatment. No complications were observed in patients who received this treatment. [Pg.141]
