Electron micrograph studies

Based on structural analyses obtained by the electron diffraction technique, the deposited films are known to be monocrystalline in nature, and thus, can be regarded as a special case of a layer-bilayer mechanical growth forming almost two-dimensional crystals. However, there is evidence that Ba-behenate multilayers do in fact show absence of crystallization, as demonstrated by electron micrographic studies. 

The current view of the overall morphology of ribosomes is based largely on electron-micrographic studies of the subunits of E. coli. From this analysis it appears that both subunits are asymmetrical (fig. 28.6). 

It is assumed that the small Pd particles are well-formed single crystals. This assumption is supported by electron-micrographic studies of deBoer and Coenen (12), who found that 50 100-A particles of nickel supported on silica had straight edges, indicating that the particles were either cubic or octahedral. 

This reaction describes the formation of self-setting bone cement used ubiquitously in dentistry (Brown and Chow, 1987 Posset et al., 1998). A TEM (transmission electron micrograph) study of the conversion of TTCP to hydroxyapatite whiskers in contact with diammonium hydrogen phosphate solution was provided by Wang, Lin and Ju (2005).
