Although ED is more complex than other membrane separation processes, the characteristic performance of a cell is, in principle, possible to calculate from a knowledge of ED cell geometry and the electrochemical properties of the membranes and the electrolyte solution. [Pg.342]

The electrical double-layer structure and fractal geometry of a pc-Ag electrode have been tested by Se vasty an ov et al.272 They found that the geometrical roughness of electrochemically polished pc-Ag electrodes is not very high (/pz 1.5 to 1.25), but the dependence of Chtr curves on cej, as well as on/pz, is remarkable (C, =30 to 80 fi cm-2 if/pz =1.5 to 1.0). [Pg.68]

Before constructing an electrode for microwave electrochemical studies, the question of microwave penetration in relation to the geometry of the sample has to be evaluated carefully. Typically only moderately doped semiconductors can be well investigated by microwave electrochemical techniques. On the other hand, if the microwaves are interacting with thin layers of materials or liquids also highly doped or even metallic films can be used, provided an appropriate geometry is selected to allow interaction of the microwaves with a thin oxide-, Helmholtz-, or space-charge layer of the materials. [Pg.443]

Electrochemical reactions only involving a change of charge of simple or complex ions but not any change in inner geometry are commonly called outer-sphere electron transfer reactions. For some time, the reduction and oxidation of simple and... [Pg.261]

Bis(bipyridyl)nickel(0) has been prepared by metal-vapor methods and electrochemical data were obtained for it. In these low-valence states, a significant proportion of the electron density lies on the bipy ligand.2469 Also, the crystal and molecular structure of 4,6-dimethyl-2,2 -dipyr-idyldicarbonylnickel(O) (1021) has been determined. The coordination geometry about Ni is tetrahedral.2470... [Pg.501]

Krebs and co-workers synthesized a series of dinuclear copper(II) complexes as models for catechol oxidase 91 (365) (distorted SP Cu-Cu 2.902 A), (366) (distorted five-coordinate geometry Cu-Cu 3.002A), (367) (distorted SP Cu-Cu 2.995 A), (368) (distorted five-coordinate geometry Cu-Cu 2.938 A), and (369) (distorted SP Cu-Cu 2.874 A). These complexes were characterized by spectroscopic and electrochemical methods. From kinetic analysis, a catalytic order for catecholase activity (aerial oxidation of 3,5 -di - ter t-buty lcatec h o 1) was obtained.326... [Pg.814]
