ELECTRAS

ELECTRAS - web-based data analysis system. The software supports 2x2 different modes of action the modes for expert and novice engineers and the modes for expert and novice computational chemists. htip //www2.chemie.uni-erlangen.de/projects/eDAS/index.himl... [Pg.225]

The electronic data analysis service (ELECTRAS), which was developed at the Com-puter-Chemie-Centrum of the University of Erlangen-Ntlmberg through a project supported by the DFN-Verein and the BMBF, is a web-based application which presents an interface to various kinds of data analysis methods. It offers the methods... [Pg.449]

The data analysis module of ELECTRAS is twofold. One part was designed for general statistical data analysis of numerical data. The second part offers a module For analyzing chemical data. The difference between the two modules is that the module for mere statistics applies the stati.stical methods or rieural networks directly to the input data while the module for chemical data analysis also contains methods for the calculation ol descriptors for chemical structures (cl. Chapter 8) Descriptors, and thus structure codes, are calculated for the input structures and then the statistical methods and neural networks can be applied to the codes. [Pg.450]

Figure )-11 gives an ovemew of the building hloc ks of the ELECTRAS system ELECTRAS was designed for two levels of user experience. The novice part offers a guided data analysis for inexperienced users. Experienced users can analyze their data fast and directly using the expert mode. [Pg.451]

An additional feature of ELECTRAS is a module which provides an introduction to various data analysis techniques One part of this module provides a typical work flow for data analysis. It explains the important steps when conducting a data analysis and describes the output of the data analysis methods. The second part gives a description of the methods offered. This modvJe can be used both as a guideline for novice users and as a reference for experts. [Pg.452]

The following steps give a general outline for the usage of a neural network The nomenclature is that used in the web-based neural network included in the ELECTRAS system [9. For other neural networks the parameters may be slightly different. [Pg.463]

Lots of people like me and they don t want to lose my friendship. My friends Delsa and Electra always make sure they re not leaving me behind. [Pg.157]

Sometimes I feel like my friends are different, and I wish that I could do what they re doing. But I can t. Since I m allergic I can t pet cats or guinea pigs and some other animals. If I touch them, I break out in hives or I can t breathe. I can t go to a friend s house if they have cats. That s really hard. My friend Electra has cats and I can t go over to her house. We always play at my house. [Pg.157]

A variety of other amino acid- or peptide-based cues also induce larval settlement and metamorphosis. For example, larvae of the sand dollar Dendraster excentricus settle and metamorphose in response to (1) a peptide-based cue from sand associated with adults, and (2) to water conditioned by adults.135 137 The nudibranch Adalaria proxima is induced to settle and metamorphose by a water-soluble-peptide-based cue from its bryozoan host Electra pilosa.138 139 A surface-associated peptide inducer has been proposed for the tube worm Phragmatopoma lapidosa californica140 but its role as a natural inducer remains to be defined. [Pg.367]

Other opisthobranch molluscs settle and metamorphose in response to prey items. The dorid nudibranch Adalaria proximo feeds on the cheilostome bryozoan Electra pilosa. Soluble cues secreted by live colonies of the bryozoan, but not dead, frozen, or sonicated E. pilosa, induced metamorphosis.151 Ultrafiltration showed that the active inducer is less than 1000 Da in size.43 Trypsin eliminated the inductive cue Lambert et al.48 suggested that the active inducer is a small, arginine- or lysine-containing peptide. [Pg.444]
