Education Methodology

In general, there are four methodological stages in any teaching-learning process, which are complementary in a sequential manner. These stages are quite independent from each other. [Pg.217]

As an educational methodology, research was to be valued because it imparted excitement into what might otherwise be an exposition of dull facts. But the involvement of unsophisticated undergraduate students in this endeavor was not expected and, for most faculty in colleges and universities, considered impossible. [Pg.19]

A new process technology student should be able to quickly decode and understand the educational methodology and administrative requirements that exist in a college. The first step is to get the college catalog and review the rules, procedures, policies, course descriptions, degree... [Pg.22]

The model developed, which has been in use for many years both for the training of professionals and speciaUsts and the preliminary education of nonspeciahsts, leads toward a universal language for odor relationships, and is named the spectmm or field of odor. This spatial model has been based on 42 reference odorants, including vanillin, and is becoming the methodological reference for describing odors (see Odormodification). [Pg.400]

Designs should be based on knowledge of what the human body (and human nature) will do. Include educated operators in design reviews. The HAZOP methodology for process hazard analysis offers an excellent opportunity to identify design and procedural opportunities for inherently safer systems. After all, the OP in HAZOP stands for operability (COPS, 1992). For example, a safe start-up procedure that requires the operator to walk up and down the stairs three times to manipulate valves in the correct sequence can be made inherently safer by locating the valves so that operator has to walk up the stairs only once during the start-up. [Pg.100]

Physical chemistry and physics may be different fields but they have some important features in common they are abstract they both use mathematics they overlap in some content areas (such as thermodynamics and quantum mechanics). To a large extent, science and physics educators started research on basic physics concepts that also are used in physical chemistry. Consequently, physical chemistry education research owns much to the work that has been done in physics education and has much in common with it. For example, they share some of the research methodology and an interest in studying the relationship between the physical description of phenomena and its mathematics description in the learner s mind. [Pg.80]

To assess the impact of dairy food on health, measures to objectively assess intake are critical. As stated earlier in this chapter, one of the major limitations of nutrition research is the utilization of self-reported dietary intake data. An increase in awareness of healthy eating patterns as a result of advertising and nutrition education may exacerbate bias associated with self-reported dietary intake methodology (Johansson et al., 1998). This is especially the case of at-risk groups. For example, obese people are more prone to underreporting dietary intakes (Livingstone and Black, 2003). [Pg.23]
