Economic evaluation cooling water cost

The variable operating costs include the consumption of feed + fuel, cooling water and electricity. For their evaluation, it was taken into account that in the actual economic scenario the costs of such a scheme are mainly related to those of the natural gas and of the plant thermal efficiency. The evaluation is reported in Table 9.3. 

If utilities are generated inside the facility, such as cooling water, the capital cost for outside the battery limits facilities are evaluated by APEA. Using the specified indirect cost, discount rate, tax, and interest, the discounted cash flow and the economic indicators are generated by APEA with the method described in Section Economic Sustainability Analysis. The disposal of blowdown from recirculating cooling systems also poses environmental contamination problems. Inhibitors and process contamination are the major concerns, although excessive dissolved sohds may prove objectionable in some cases. A number of the major components now used in coohng water inhibitors must be removed before blowdown is acceptable for disposal in surface supplies (i.e. lakes and streams). Cost of this removal must be included in economic evaluation of inhibitor treatment. Alternative, environmentally innocuous inhibitors, may be used for satisfactory corrosion control. Corrosion inhibitors alone probably account for 60 to 70% of the total.
