2 Early History of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell 

In the United States, the SOFC development ran out due to the hindrance in developing electronic conducting intercoimection material and suitable cathodes. Brown and Boveri extensively studied these issues along with the development of oxygen sensors. The high temjjerature fuel cell system studied by Brown is shown in Fig. 3.3. LiNOa doped with Bi203 and SiO doped LaMnOa were investigated as suitable cathodes.
