A key component of analyzing the external environment is to identify and gauge potential competitors. The goal of the competitor analysis is to understand the characteristics of other providers so that the business can be positioned favorably compared with competitors. Data about competitors sometimes are difficult to obtain. Surveys of customers, price comparisons, and publicly available information (i.e., Web sites) should be investigated. [Pg.51]

Experience has shown that is better to obtain basis sets in electronic form than paper form since even slight errors in transposition will affect the calculation results. Some basis sets are included with most computer programs that require them. There is also a form page on the Web that allows a user to choose a basis and specify a format consistent with the input of several popular computational chemistry programs at http //www.emsl.pnl.gov 2080/forms/basisform.htm. The basis set is then sent to the user in the form of an e-mail message. [Pg.89]

These faetors are attributed to bateh and semi-bateh proeesses rather than eontinuous proeesses. However, the use of eontinuous proeesses on fine ehemieal manufaeturing sites is limited. It is often preferable to use the semi-bateh mode as opposed to bateh proeesses. The Appendix lists hazards of pertinent ehemieal reaetions for toxie and reaetive hazards ehemieals. Information eoneerning the safety of various ehemieals (e.g., ammonia and others) ean be readily obtained from the World Wide Web. Table 12-1 shows how to aeeess a material safety data sheet at the Vermont Safety Information (VIRI) site on the Internet. [Pg.917]
