In addition to the above-mentioned fields of application, functionahzation of blends of olefin polymers and copolymers has been widely employed in the manufacture of thermoplastic dynamic vulcanizates (71,72). [Pg.300]

Blends of functionalized PO have mostly been used for compatibilization of blended systems based on engineering plastics. They have found applications in the development of thermoplastic dynamic vulcanizates. [Pg.301]

For the tests of preparing dynamic vulcanizates in the continuous process of reactive extrusion a twin-screw mixer-extruder DSK 42/6D manufactured by Brabender was used. The vulcanizates were produced dynamically in the process of one-stage or two-stage extrusion process, setting the favorable operating parameters for the device, which had been determined based on multiple tests distribution of temperatures in each heating area... [Pg.49]

Dynamically vulcanized blends ([3, 4] see also the chapter on Thermoplastic dynamic vulcanizates in this book) are produced by melt mixing an elastomer phase with a thermoplastic (the elastomer being the major component) and then curing the elastomer during melt mixing. The resulting blend comprises the thermoplastic resin hlled with high concentration of rubber particles well bonded to the matrix. These blends are usually PP/EPDM (Santoprene ) or PP/polybutadiene (PB), but ex-... [Pg.664]

The production of the hard polymer/elastomer combinations is more simple. The two components are mixed together under conditions of intensive shear. To achieve a satisfactory dispersion, both the viscosities (at the mbdng conditions) and the solubility parameters of the polymers must be carefiilly matched (49). In some cases, grafting may occur. In a variation of this technique, the elastomer can be cross-linked while the mixing is taking place and the products are described as dynamic vulcanizates (26,27,49). [Pg.2363]
