Dye intermediate, liquid

Some bromine compounds are covered specifically under Hazardous Materials Regulations. Other compounds may usually be shipped under the classification of chemicals, not otherwise indexed by name, without special requirements unless from their nature they would fall under a category such as combustible liquid, compressed gas, corrosive liquid (or solid), disinfectant liquid (or solid), dmg, dye intermediate (liquid), fire extinguisher, flammable gas (liquid or solid), insecticide, medicine, oxidizer or oxidizing material, poisonous liquid (gas or solid), solvent, or tear gas. Specific provisions apply to each of these categories and appropriate packaging and labeling are required.

Uses Antioxidant photographic reducer and developer for black and white film determination of phosphate dye intermediate medicine in monomeric liquids to prevent polymerization stabilizer in paints and varnishes motor fuels and oils.

Use Rubber accelerators dyes (phenylene blue and naphthol blue) chemical intermediate liquid crystals in electronic display systems perfume base. 

Solvent or fractional condensation methods, however, do not give complete separation from the anthracene of such substances as acridine, Ruorantln-enc, flnorene, pyrene, methyl-anthracene, chrysene, acenaphthene, high molecular weight paraffin hydrocarbons, etc., which are present in the crude anthracene press cake. During the subsequent oxidation of anthracene by the liquid phase method these substances result in the formation of impurities difficult to separate from the anthraquinoue and detracting considerably from its quality as a dye intermediate.

The compounds have limited value as dye-stufTs intermediates, nitrobenzenef CeHjNOj, PhN02-Colourless, highly refractive liquid with characteristic smell m.p. b.p. 21 TC.
