Durability cyclic fatigue

Cyclic fatigue is another long-term durability requirement for ceramic matrix composites. As part of the LC project, a limited assessment was made of the isothermal fatigue performance of the SiOC Nextel 312 BN 2-D composites.

Krieger has argued that the fatigue life of structural adhesives cannot be usefully predicted by thick adherent lap shear specimens.He has described a test sample configuration more appropriate for determining the durability of skin-doubler assemblies. The skin-doubler specimens proposed were found to survive peak cyclic strains that produced failures with conventional thick adherent specimens. 

Under the exploitation conditions, the polymers are supposed both to the action of continuous efforts (creep conditions) and cyclical ones and the fatigue phenomenon accompanies these processes. Durability Under Cyclic Straining. Both nltimate strength and allowable strain may be reduced by fatigue. Guidance shonld be sought from the pipe manufacturer.
