Steel dual-phase

There are several hundred types of steels that use these principles separately or in combination. Some of these are generic, many are proprietary. Among them are various microaUoyed ferrite—peadite steels having limited peadite amounts and the low carbon bainites, as weU as the dual-phase steels. [Pg.396]

Feng et al. (Ref 35), conducted a preliminary study to investigate the feasibility of FSSW of AHSS sheet metal. The objective was to weld 600 MPa (87 ksi) dual-phase steel and 1310 MPa (190 ksi) martensitic steel. A single tool, made of polycrystalline cubic boron nitride, survived over 100 welding trials without noticeable degradation and wear. The tool had a tapered pin,... [Pg.262]

The list of different steel grades and related applications is impressive and still growing low carbon strip steels for automotive applications, low carbon structural steels, engineering steels, stainless steels, cast irons, and, more recently dual phase steels, TRIP-steels, TWIP-steels, maraging steels,. .. [Pg.8]

For some materials such as dual-phase steels, some aluminum alloys, and so forth, the n value is not constant, as given by Eq. (18). In such ca.ses, two or three n values may be required to be determined for initial (low), intermediate, and terminal (high) strain regions. The initial n value relates to the low-deformation region, where springback is often a problem. The terminal n value relates to the high-deformation region, where fracture may occur fl]. [Pg.30]

Iron steel LePera s reagent Good for quantitative assessment of martensite and bainite in dual-phase steels. Martensite appears white, bainite appears black, and ferrite appears tan. [Pg.26]

Duplex steel (substrate) A simple alloy of iron and carbon, perhaps with a little Si, Ni, or Mn. The alloy has high ductility and easy formability, and is used in stamping parts such as auto fenders. Also called dual-phase steel. [Pg.602]
