Etoposide Doxorubicin

Sulfuric acid and potassium permanganate are used to dispose of doxorubicin or daunorubicin wastes. Doxorubicin shows mutagenicity only at high concentrations. Care must be exercised by wearing protective clothing when handling urine and feces after administration of doxorubicin, etoposides, fluorouracil, methotrexate, mitoxantrone, mustine, procarbazine, melphalan, mercaptopurine, vinblastine, vincristine, and hydroxyurea.217... [Pg.361]

In 37 patients with HIV-associated non-Hodgkin s lymphoma who were treated with a 96-hour continuous intravenous infusion of cyclophosphamide + doxorubicin + etoposide, severe (grade 3 or 4) mucositis occurred in eight of 12 patients who received concomitant saquinavir (600 mg tds) compared with three of 25 who did not receive saquinavir. Although the authors did not measure saquinavir plasma concentrations, they suggested that this finding may have been explained by inhibition of the metabolism of one or more of the cytotoxic drugs by saquinavir (17). [Pg.3106]

A number of case reports describe an increase in the effects of warfarin, accompanied by bleeding in some cases, caused by an-tineoplastic regimens containing carboplatin, chlormethine, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, etoposide, gefitinib, gemcitabine, ifosfamide with mesna, methotrexate, procarbazine, trastuzum-ab, vincristine or vindesine. A decrease in the effects of warfarin has been seen with azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, mercaptop-urine and mitotane, a decrease in the effects of acenocoumarol has been seen with mercaptopurine, and a decrease in the effects of phenprocoumon have l n seen with azathioprine. [Pg.382]

Laminas (LMN-ACO) serve as scaffolds for the anchoring of nuclear chromatin. Neuroblastoma cells with lamina genes deleted and lacking nuclear lamina, fail to differentiate in response to retinoic acid treatment. Lamina-defective neuroblastoma xenografts released cells with accelerated locomotion lamina-free tumor cells formed large tumors rapidly, and exhibited resistance to chemotherapy (doxorubicin, etoposide, paclitaxel). Laminary structures in place were necessary for organ differentiation [1627]. [Pg.361]

It has been increasingly appreciated that many chemotherapeutic agents are capable of modulating ceramide metabolism these include doxorubicin, etoposide, ara-C, vincristine, and many others (Table 4). An illustrative example is provided by Fenretinide 4-HPR, a synthetic retinoid that induces p53-independent cytotoxicity in solid tumor cell lines. It was demonstrated that Fenretinide 4-HPR can increase ceramide synthesis through the de novo synthetic pathway and that inhibition of ceramide formation prevents its cytotoxicity (Erdreich-Epstein et al, 2002 O Donnell et al, 2002). [Pg.158]
