Dithio phosphate

Rate constants for the substitution reactions of square-planar dithio-phosphates and dithiocarbonate complexes of Ni(II), Pd(II), and Pt(II), with ethylenediamine and cyanide ion as nucleophiles, have been measured in methanol. The results were compared with those obtained in previous investigations, and interpreted in terms of the stabilities of 5-coordinate species that are formed prior to substitution (377). [Pg.260]

The influence of pulp potential on floatability of jamesonite is shown in Fig. 4.12 for an initial concentration of 1 x 10 mol/L ethyl xanthate (EX), dithiocarbamate (DDTC) and ammonium dialkyl dithio-phosphate (ADDP). If the upper and lower... [Pg.76]

Only compounds of type I and II, which contain both metal and sulfur, were found to act as inhibitors. Compounds III and IV, for example, were ineffective. The inhibition of indene oxidation by zinc dithio-phosphates was considered to be a key result in this work since it rules out the intermediate formation of free thiyl radicals. There is adequate evidence (2, 9, 16, 17, 22) that thiyl radicals, including (RO)2PS2, add rapidly to olefins and that in the presence of oxygen the following sequence of reactions would occur. [Pg.334]

Materials. Cumene and Tetralin were purified by extraction with concentrated sulfuric acid, until the extracts were colorless, then with 2N caustic soda and distilled water, and finally dried and distilled. Both were stored in darkness under No and percolated through silica gel immediately before use. ferf-Butylbenzene (99.9% by GLC) was used as an inert diluent for cumene and Tetralin where indicated. Squalane (M and B Embaphase) was used as received. AIBN was recrystallized from ether and had a melting point of 102°-103°C. Metal dialkyl dithiophos-phates were prepared as described previously (6) zinc diisopropyl dithio-phosphate was finally recrystallized twice from n-heptane and had a melting point of 146 °C. [Pg.335]

One possible problem peculiar to a quantitative study of the inhibition of oxidation of aromatic hydrocarbons by zinc dialkyl dithiophos-phates is that peroxide decomposition could yield a phenol during the initial-rate measurement. Rate curves for the zinc diisopropyl dithio-phosphate-inhibited oxidation of cumene are shown in Figure 7. In the initial presence of hydroperoxide the uninhibited rate is never reached, and the reaction soon exhibits autoinhibition, presumably caused by the... [Pg.339]

AIBN is, however, virtually unaffected by the presence of dithio-phosphates (Table II). Further, with specific reference to the oxidation of the disulfide in Table I, which has no effect on the rate of AIBN-initi-ated autoxidation of cumene (6), it is unlikely that the efficiency of radical production from AIBN increases since this would produce a prooxidant effect in cumene. Thus, the zinc salt inhibitor is being oxidized in competition with the main chain reaction. [Pg.342]

Numerous complexes of nickel(II) with phosphorodithioate ligands (also called dithio-phosphates 280 R — R" = 0-alkyl, O-aryl) and dithiophosphinates (280 R = R" = alkyl, aryl) have been reported to date. A few dithiophosphonato complexes (280 R = alkyl, R" = O-alkyl) were also reported. The bis(dialkyldithiophosphato)nickel(II) complexes were obtained as purple diamagnetic compounds by means of the direct synthesis between the appropriate dithioacid (RO)2P(S)SH and a nickel(II) salt, often the acetate hydrate. The dithioacid can be conveniently prepared in situ, by reacting P4Si0 with the appropriate alcohol which sometimes acts by itself as reaction medium. Structural properties of selected nickel(II) complexes are reported in Table 90. [Pg.174]

Load-carrying requirements are generally less severe for marine than automotive applications, e.g. there are no specialised cam and tappet test requirements. Nevertheless, good load-carrying properties are required particularly for crankcase oils. The requirements are achieved through the use of compounds such as zinc dithio-phosphates, dithiocarbamates, sulphurised fatty esters, disulphides and sulphurised alkenes. [Pg.399]
