Dismountable components

The use of wide fuel rod lattice and spacer grids allows the manufacture of a RBEC-M fuel assembly as a dismountable component, which could also facilitate implementation of the IAEA safeguards. In this case, there is an opportunity to secure all the fuel rods by measurements and to exclude the possibility of an undeclared replacement of intermediate fuel rod rows by pins with fertile materials. In the case of a non-dismountable fuel assembly design, the sensitivity of contemporary methods of measurement for nuclear materials allows measurements only of the external fuel rod rows and up to two internal fuel rod rows (if a guide tube for control in the fuel assembly center is available). 

In many cases, bonding enables the repair of damaged workpieces or components of metal and nonmetal materials. The decisive advantages of repair bonding are the favorable ratio of repair costs to acquisition costs of new components, the shortening of downtimes, application even in environments with inflammable substances and thus no dismounting of the repair part. 

Escort. The escort for execution by musketry or hanging may be dismounted or motorized, but upon arrival at the scene of execution, motorized escorts will form in the manner prescribed for dismounted escorts. The minimum escort will consist of components as prescribed in paragraphs llo and 16a. Where the prisoner is to be executed by electrocution, the strength, formation, and duties of the guard escort will be as prescribed I7 the officer charged with eanylng out the execution. 

The dismonnted ergonomic issues, as well as the time schedule and limited funds, shifted the focns of the combined C4I acquisition to the moimted component, with the dismounted aspects to be resolved later in the acquisition process. As the priority of the weight requirements was reduced, these requirements became available for cost-benefit tradeoffs. The Army has accepted the increased weight, since historical data has shown that Information Technology (IT) equipment tends to reduce in size and weight over time. Such an acquisition will also allow future development to be guided by lessons learned.
