Dislodging solutions

The extraction of the AOT samples consisted of taking a 50-mL subsample and extracting by separatory funnel with hexane and 10% NaCl in water. The cleaned-up and dried hexane extract was then injected onto a gas chromatograph (GC) with an ECD (electron conductivity detector). The minimum quantifiable limit (MQL), or limit of quantification, for the method was 0.002 ug/mL dislodging solution. A typical set of chromatograms can be seen in Figures 1 and 2. 

Hydrolysis of benzanilide. Place 5 g. of benzanilide and 50 ml. of 70 per cent, sulphuric acid in a small flask fitted with a reflux condenser, and boU gently for 30 minutes. Some of the benzoio acid will vapourise in the steam and solidify in the condenser. Pour 60 ml. of hot water down the condenser this will dislodge and partially dissolve the benzoic acid. Cool the flask in ice water filter off the benzoic acid (anifine sulphate does not separate at this dilution), wash well with water, drain, dry upon filter paper, and identify by m.p. (121°) and other tests. Render the filtrate alkaline by cautiously adding 10 per cent, sodium hydroxide solution, cool and isolate the aniline by ether extraction. Recover the ether and test the residue for anifine (Section IV,100). 

The redox potential of the solution is that of the Fe /Fe equilibrium and lies within the range 0-80-0-85 V (v. S.H.E.). The high weight loss of susceptible alloys is due to undermining and grain dislodgement at the sensitised zones, which occurs at about twice the rate of that in the Huey test. Another difference is that whereas in the Huey test corrosion products... 

Among the molecules, however, business is going on as usual. Iodine dissolves by the detachment of surface layer molecules from the iodine crystals. The rate at which this process occurs is fixed by the stability of the crystal (tending to hold the molecules in the surface layer) and the temperature (the thermal agitation tending to dislodge the molecules from their lattice positions). As the dissolving continues, the concentration of iodine molecules in the solution increases. 

Take a loop full of the creamy culture off the agar plate. Dip the loop into a 250 ml flask containing 100ml of 5.0g-l 1 glucose and 1 g-1 1 yeast extract. Swirl the loop in the nutrient solution to dislodge the selected culture from the loop. 

Six control sample jars of 0.01% Aerosol OT detergent in distilled water solution (200 mL each) were prepared at each site on sampling days 1,14 and 28 by dislodging leaf disks taken from the untreated control area. Triplicate samples were fortified at each of two concentrations. Fortification levels were 50 and 400 qg of oxamyl per sample. 

Curalan DF is a fungicide produced by BASF Corp. for the purpose of treating such diseases as brown patch and fusarium patch on turf. Curalan DF was applied to turf in California, Florida, and Pennsylvania at a rate of 5.6 lb of active ingredient in 80 gallons of finished spray solution per acre using a tractor-mounted boom sprayer. Four applications were made 14 days apart. These conditions were selected to reflect the maximum level of dislodgeable residue when the product is typically used in agricultural practice. 

Follow the procedure described above using 1 g portions in 10 , 10 , 10 , 10 " and 10 M CTAB solutions. Addition of CTAB may cause extensive frothing. Since the powder will be retained in this foam it must be broken up either mechanically using a Pasteur pipette or by the addition of a small amount of ethanol. The powder may also stick to the walls of the apparatus above the collection tube. This powder should be dislodged by gentle tapping on the walls of the apparatus. Calculate the mean flotation efficiency at each concentration and graph the results.
