The clinical syndrome of acute neonatal hyper-ammonemic encephalopathy described in the case report represents the classical presentation of a patient with a urea cycle disorder (UCD). Several types of data are routinely collected related to infectious disease surveillance, including morbidity, mortality, and health indicator data (CDC, 1992). Each state has requirements for mandatory reporting by health care providers and facilities, including laboratories, of cases of notifiable infectious diseases. Industrial injuries are those suffered by insured persons in the course of the employment for which they are insured. There must be a connexion between this employment and the accident and injuries arising from it. Accidents on the way to or from the place of work and occupational diseases are also regarded as industrial accidents. Occupational diseases are such diseases as are recognized by the Government in an administrative order and suffered by a person in his insured employment. There are 47 recognized diseases listed.
