In addition to this a welded joint is a discontinuity in an engineering structure containing many possible sites of stress concentration, e.g. toe or root of the joint, weld ripple. 

Fundamental research in pyrotechnics is published in the US in Combustion and Flame by the Combustion Institute, and in the UK in Combustion Science and Technology and in Fuel . Germany has the new, journal, Propellants and Explosives (German Chemical Society), which is the successor to the discontinued Explosivstoffe . A necessary caveat is that these journals are strongly oriented toward combustion or propulsion so that only rarely do they yield pyrotechnic information. Likewise, the various publications of the learned societies contain much data on thermodynamics, spectroscopy, and instrumental analysis which are useful in the study of pyrotechnics. In the USSR the situation is somewhat better as Physics of Combustion and Explosion (Fizika Gorenia i Vzryva) of the Siberian Branch Academy of Sciences USSR is exclusively oriented toward subjects of interest, as several scientific institutes are primarily devoted to research in pyrotechnics. The same authors do publish also, however, in the journals of the Academy of Science USSR (of which there are several) as well as in the corresponding journals of the academies of the various republics, so that the impression is created of a high level of activity... 

This is similar to the simple atom-atom truncation except that dipolar groups will never be split by the cutoff distance. N-Nitrosamines in Cured Meats Other Than Bacon. The presence of N-nitrosamines in cured meats other than bacon has been the subject of several recent surveys (19,58,59). In general, the majority of the positive samples contained extremely low levels of N-nitrosamine, usually less than I yg/kg (19,58). This low level could, in part, be attributed to the discontinuation of the use of nitrite-spice premixes in the mid-l970 s (l 9). In the Holland study (59), the predominant N-nitrosamines detected were NDMA and N-nitrosomorpholine (NMOR) and, generally, values of 4 yg/kg were obtained for each N-nitrosamine. More correctly, these are presumptive N-nitrsoamine levels since mass spectral confirmation of their identities was not achieved.

Inevitably, there are changes in the degree of activity in the various fields of chemistry some subject areas flourish and expand, others contract. Some titles in the SPR series have remained unchanged, others have changed their emphasis and their titles, some have been combined with others under a new name, and some have been discontinued.
