Discharge stack

Hundreds of computations are needed to generate the long-term average ambient concentration at various receptor sites due to one or more continuously discharging stacks. 

Problems can arise if several cupboards, each with its own fan, are connected to a single common duct and discharge stack. If a fume cupboard was switched off or a fan failed, flow through the cupboard could be reversed causing contaminants to be discharged into the room. The collecting duct should be kept at a lower pressure by its own fan to reduce this risk. 

Discharge stack A stack that conveys combustion products or other pollutants from a space directly to outdoors. The pollutants may be removed before the remaining gas is allowed to discharge into the atmosphere. 

In-stack filters A filter positioned in the discharge stack to remove pollutants before the waste gases are discharged to outdoors.

The model of north super block constructed in the software is employed to predict hydrate formation during the discharge of trapped natural gas via the discharge stacks (see Fig. 2 and Table 2 for the specifications of discharge stacks). 

Exhaust Ventilation Systenu A system for removing contaminated air from a space, comprising two or more of the following elements (a) enclosure or hood (b) duct work (c) dust collecting equipment (d) exhauster and (e) discharge stack. 

Exhaust System A system consisting of branch pipes connected to hoods or enclosures, one or more header pipes, an exhaust fan, means for separating solid contaminants from the air flowing in the system, and a discharge stack outside. 

Drain holes must be provided at the low point of the discharge stack to prevent liquid or ice accumulation in the relief valve discharge. The drain opening should be directed away from equipment and piping to prevent impingement by any flame that may come from the hole. 

Acid plant tail gas ccmtains sulfur dioxide (SO2), sulfur trioxide (SO3), nitrous oxides (NO c), and acid mist (H2SO4). These compounds are toxic. Their concentratiOTis in acid plant tail gas must meet environmental standards. These standards usually apply directly to the acid plant tail gas discharge stack and the areas surrounding the acid plant. Treatment of acid plant tail gas is often used to ensure these standards are met.
