Dinical design

The CTD is organised into five modules. A schematic representation of the stmcture and hierarchy is shown in Figure 6.1. Module 1 is designed to contain region-specific information such as application forms and other administrative provisions that may apply. As such, it is not harmonised and is not considered part of the CTD. The other four modules present the technical data in a harmonised format. Module 2 should contain critical overview assessments of the quality, non-dinical and clinical data, together with summaries of the non-clinical and clinical data. The objective of this section is to provide reviewers with an introduction to the submission, and to orient... [Pg.98]

From a practical perspective, the in vivo assessment of the biocompatibility of biomaterials and medical devices is carried out to determine that the device performs as intended, that is, designed, and presents no significant harm to the patient or user (Table 3). Thus, the goal of the in vivo assessment of biocompatibility is to predict whether a medical device presents potential harm to the patient or user by evaluation under conditions simulating dinical use. [Pg.365]

Hemocompatibility tests evaluate effects on blood and/or blood components by blood-contacting medical devices or materials. In vivo hemocompatibility tests are usually designed to simulate the geometry, contact conditions, and flow dynamics of the device or material in its dinical application. From the ISO standards perspective, five test categories are indicated for hemocompatibility evaluation thrombosis, coagulation, platelets, hematology, and immimology (complement and leukocytes) (Table 12). [Pg.375]

In summary, there are very few polymer-nuddc add therapeutics that have been investigated in dinical trials. At this time (end of 2009), only two remain in progress (one is a localized administration (PEI DTA-H19 plasmid ) while the other is a systemic administration (CALAA-01 )). As more dinical data are accumulated, the designs of the polymer... [Pg.524]

The system was found not to be an appropriate tool designed for clinical diagnosis, and its extension into this field does not enable accurate identification of patients with ACS. However, the system can be used to guide the appropriate level of dinical response to different emergency incidents. [Pg.213]

The acylureido penidllins are derivatives of ampicillin designed to improve the penetration of the outer membrane of the Pseudomonas cell. The dinically useful ones are azlodllin and piperadllin (Fig. 22.20). [Pg.457]
