Digital displacement transducer

The Advantages of Digital Displacement Transducers Over LVDT s, Anter Laboratories, Inc., Unitherm Division, Pittsburgh, PA (1992). 

Instruments/equipment Platinum electrodes, grass square pulse stimulator (model no SD9, Astro-Med, Inc., West Warwick, RI), grass tension-displacement transducer (model no. FT03, Astro-Med, Inc.), computerized quad bridge preamplifier/digitizer (MacLab/8e, AD Instruments, Milford, MA). 

A Rheovibron interface, on command from the calculator, uses a signal from either the load or displacement transducer to the lock-in amplifier where it is measured. The measured result is passed through the Amp, Phase, Temp, and Relay cards to the Voltage Monitor where it is digitized and stored in the calculator memory. 

The test structure was instrumented with 108 potentiometric displacement transducers, 22 inclinometers, 8 Heidenhain linear encoders and 8 load cells. The pattern of instrumented zones was symmetrical for the two frames. The north ground fioor wan and its bounding columns and beams was monitored with a pair of high resolution, water cooled Long Wording ForPco (PCO) Edge digital cameras. 

PPTs (Pore Pressure Transducer), made in US, were buried in the sediment to measure the pore pressure. Two sets of digital cameras were used to record the change of sediment s surface during dissociation of gas hydrate. Three laser displacement transducers (LSI, LS2 and LS3) were located over the samples with distances of 5 cm, 25 cm and 45 cm to the top of slopes respectively and all with a distance to one side wall 20 cm.
