The epipolar constrains calculated using the estimated camera parameters restrict the search for corresponding image features in different images to a ID search. Light microscopy allows, in comparison to other microscopic methods, quick, contact-free and non-destmctive access to the stmctures of materials, their surfaces and to dimensions and details of objects in the lateral size range down to about 0.2 pm. A variety of microscopes with different imaging and illumination systems has been constmcted and is conunercially available in order to satisfy special requirements. In the multistage approach, ToF-SIMS plays an important role and is first used to detect the presence of proteins in museum objects. Indeed, if blood is present in such a state of conservation that it can be recognized through chemical composition, proteins must be present. For this purpose, as described previously, low mass fragments are studied. Since samples are very complex and in order to ensure identification, two-dimensional images of all protein fragments are drawn and compared.
