Dictyodendrilla

Pyrrolo[2,3-c]carbazole alkaloids (see Schemes 2.70-2.72) isolated from the dark green marine sponge, Dictyodendrilla sp., showed inhibitory activity against bovine lens aldose reductase catalyzing the reduction of aldoses to polyols which, on accumulation in cells, may result in diabetes. These alkaloids could provide prevention from such ailments (250). [Pg.193]

Dictyodendrins A—E are a family of marine natural products, isolated by Fuse-tani and Matsunaga from the sponge Dictyodendrilla verongiformis (2003 JOC2765). Dictyodendrins have a unique pyrrolo[2,3-c]carbazole core. They exhibit strong telomerase inhibitory activity and their function exerts an important effect on relevant vital processes such as aging and cancer. [Pg.24]

This genus name is synonymous with Dictyodendrilla. [Pg.1028]

Spongiolactone and omriolides A and B are three complex examples of the rearrangement of spongiane. Spongiolactone and the subsequently fotmd 3 -norspon-giolactone bear an imusual P-lactone moiety. Isolated from the Kenyan species Dictyodendrilla aff. retiara, omriolides show no particular biological activity (Rudi et al, 2005b). [Pg.1129]

The most complex bis-indolic derivatives may be the sulfated pyrrolocarbazoles isolated from Dictyodendrilla sp. harvested in Japan. These highly branched derivatives, which are unnamed, are inhibitors of aldose reductase (Sato et al, 1993). [Pg.1139]

Dictyodendrins A-E, isolated from Dictyodendrilla ver-ongiformis of Japanese origin, are similar to the above structures and are the first marine substances that inhibit telomerase (Warabi et al, 2003). [Pg.1139]

In dendridine A, isolated from an unidentified spedes of the genus Dictyodendrilla of Japanese origin (Okinavra), the dimerization may result from a radical coupling between two bromoindolic parts. Dendridine A is antibacterial and antifungal, but only weakly cytotoxic (Tsuda et cd., 2005). [Pg.1139]
