Diamagnetic compounds magnetic susceptibility

With respect to the physical properties mentioned, band-structure calculations have attracted considerable interest, e.g., for SbSBr, SbSI, and SbSel (234). For the compounds having reference 22i in column 4 of Table XXIX, a temperature-independent diamagnetism has been found, with values of about 10 cm" g between 77 and 340 K. A small temperature-dependence is exhibited by BiTel, a narrow-gap semiconductor (41). The anisotropy of the magnetic susceptibility has been studied for SbSI, BiSel, and BiTel (41, 420). 

The W(IV) compounds W(Et2C c)4 (14) and [(CU.2)ndtc] (15) are characterised only by analytical data and magnetic susceptibility measurements. They are considered to be paramagnetic with moments of about 1.0 BM, which is in contrast with the diamagnetism of W(R2[Pg.94]

According to P. Pascal,0 fluorine is diamagnetic the specific magnetic susceptibility is —3447 X10 j and the atomic susceptibilitv calculated from the additive law of mixtures for organic compounds is —63X10-1. Ionic fluorine is univalent and negative. The decomposition voltage required to separate this element from its compounds is 1 75 volts.7 The ionic velocity (transport number) 8 of fluorine ions at 18° is 46 6, and 52-5 at 25° with a temp, coeff. of 0 0238. 

The diamagnetic properties of homologous series of organic compounds were first investigated by Henricksen (1888), who called attention to the additive character of the magnetic susceptibility per gram molecule.
