Diamagnetic properties

The most important non-faradaic methods are conductometric analysis and (normal) potentiometric analysis in the former we have to deal essentially with the ionics and in the latter mainly with the electrodics. Strictly, one should assign a separate position to high-frequency analysis, where not so much the ionic conductance but rather the dielectric and/or diamagnetic properties of the solution are playing a role. Nevertheless, we shall still consider this techniques as a special form of conductometry, because the capacitive and inductive properties of the solution show up versus high-frequency as a kind of AC resistance (impedance) and, therefore, as far as its reciprocal is concerned, as a kind of AC conductance. [Pg.28]

Unusual features of vitamin Bn observed by some investigators include (1) the cyanide group is an artifact of preparation (2) the only vitamin synthesized in appreciable amounts only by microorganisms (possible in tumors) (3) only vitamin with a metal ion (4) works with glutathione (5) glutathione content decreased on B12 deficiency (6) mitosis retarded in B12 deficiency (7) requires intrinsic factor (enzyme) for oral activity (8) increases tumor size (Rous sarcoma) (9) diamagnetic properties (10) no acidic or basic groups revealed on titration (no pKa). [Pg.1703]

The paper also proves that the fluid region where turbulent motion occurs expels the external magnetic field like a diamagnetic body with low magnetic permeability /i. In the two-dimensional case considered in this paper, fi turns out to be of order (Rem)-1. However, the assertion regarding the diamagnetic properties of the turbulent motion is valid for the three-dimensional case as well. Here we find p (Rem)-1 (see review ). The next article in this collection is devoted to further development of the results obtained in this paper. [Pg.96]

The diamagnetic properties of homologous series of organic compounds were first investigated by Henricksen (1888), who called attention to the additive character of the magnetic susceptibility per gram molecule. [Pg.357]

Most properties of solids represent the response of the solid to some external electromagnetic field or mechanical force. The response of the electronic states to electromagnetic fields is so directly related to electronic structure that it is appropriate to discuss it first. We are interested in absorption and reflection of light as well as in the ordinary dielectric and diamagnetic properties of solids. When static or slowly varying electric fields act on a polar semiconductor, the two types of atoms in the semiconductor will move with respect to each other, giving a lattice... [Pg.96]

Pacaiilt, Horau, and Marchand have ven a review of the experimental and theoretical work concerning the diamagnetic properties of molecules. Diamagnetic anisotropy of electron groups is reviewed by Bothner-By and Pople. ... [Pg.312]

Some of the earliest work on In(II) compounds centered around the identity of InX2 (X = halide).Structures of the type X2ln-InX2 and In[InX4] fit the observed diamagnetic property of these halides. The structures of bromides and iodides have been confirmed to be of the latter type." " They involve indium(I) cations together with [10X4] anions. [Pg.420]
