Developing educational programs in partnership with aquaculture hatchery facilities

The spectrum of disciphnes that are part of hatchery design, construction and management illustrate the many areas that can be used for education. Existing programs that provide in situ and hands-on experience have demonstrated strong reinforcement in learning, as will be discussed later. We have provided a number of resources to guide the reader in creating or enhancing either a hatchery educational program or a curriculum unit supplemented by hands-on aquaculture experiences. Examples of successful programs conducted at both pubhc and private hatcheries yield a perspective of how hatchery education projects are and can be used for instructional purposes.
