The index tranche market trades in both a standardized format and in a bespoke format. Bespoke format means that investors can customize their investment by selecting the portfolio constituents (select reference credits, number of credits, sector diversification, etc.), the attachment and detachment points, currency, maturity, and target rating. [Pg.237]

The payoff on the index tranche product is driven by the amount of realized portfolio loss that has eroded the tranche width. The tranche exposure is defined by the attachment point and detachment point. The attachment point is a lower percentage than the detachment point, and the difference is referred to as the tranche width. For reference portfolio losses that are below the attachment point there is no realized loss to the tranche notional. If losses exceed the detachment point, then the tranche notional is completely eroded. When portfolio losses lie between the attachment and detachment point there is a fractional loss to the index tranche. The buyer of protection (short credit risk) pays a premium or coupon leg that is based on the notional outstanding of the tranche. The seller of protection (long credit risk) makes contingent payments dependent on the amount of loss that has written down the tranche. [Pg.237]

The most commonly used warehouse chain conveyor is the tow chain. Chain may be mounted overhead or in the floor, and trucks being towed can be designed for automatic detachment at a specific point. While the overhead chain is often used and is usually easy to support from structural members in the ceihng, the in-floor chain is probably most common. Automatic disengagement is possible should trucks encounter an obstruction or accident ly strike warehouse personnel. In view of this, the properties of / films were examined after they had been subjected to increasing amounts of ion exchange . In order to do this, detached films were exposed at 65°C for 7 h to a universal buffer adjusted to a suitable pH and the resistance of the film measured at 25°C in 3 n and O OOlN potassium chloride. The results obtained with a pentaerythritol alkyd are shown in Fig. 14.4 from which it can be seen that as the pH of the conditioning solution increased, the resistance of the film fell, until at a pH of about 7.5 it suddenly dropped. The resistance of the film then followed that of the solution in which it was immersed, i.e. it became a D-type film. Similar results were obtained with films of a tung oil phenolic varnish, although in this case the change-over point occurred at a higher pH, i.e. about 9. [Pg.601]

There diould be another explanation of plateau region a chain collapsed and strongly adsorbed on the substrate. In this case, the detachment of monomer one by one fix)m the substrate corresponded to the observation. Further studies are required to elucidate the point. However, this example was probably not the case because the substrate was repulsive wall for PS chains. [Pg.586]
