Design tools Selecting

January 2001 I used the virtual bench design tool to verily my comp selection for 12V to 23V at 500mA step-up converter using the 2577. The virtual bench tool came back with a much smaller inductor (68uH) than the charts and equations in the datasheet seem to indicate. What s the deal ... [Pg.274]

Chemometrics has been defined as A chemical discipline that uses statistical and mathematical methods, to design or select optimum procedures and experiments, and to provide maximum chemical information by analyzing chemical data. In shorter words it is focused as Chemometrics concerns the extraction of relevant information from chemical data by mathematical and statistical tools. Chemometrics can be considered as a part of the wider field chemoinformatics which has been defined as The application of informatics methods to solve chemical problems (Gasteiger and Engel 2003) including the application of mathematics and statistics. [Pg.15]

At this point an attempt has been made to identify all of the important v ari-ables. It has also been decided which variables will be fixed and which will be varied. For the nonfixed variables, the range and number of levels (complexity) have been determined. Classical experimental design tools will be used to specify the design for the controllable variables. The design is selected via a software package or statistical reference materials and it specifies (1) the number of runs, (2) the levels of the variable(s), and (3) tlie order of the runs. [Pg.193]

For many chemicals the mechanism of action may not be known. For these cases detailed correlations and structure-activity relationships should be used to select safer solvents. As long as a chemical s structure and its hazard can be correlated empirically, then structure-activity relationships can be a powerful tool in designing and selecting safer solvents. [Pg.118]

The design of libraries is generally preceded by the selection of some rational catalyst concept, yet may include some degree of serendipity. Library Studio [31] served as the principal library design tool. To design a thin film library, the substrate or destination for the materials array is selected, in this case an 8x8 electrode array, as described above. The set of chemical sources (e.g., metals or metal... [Pg.275]

Flow rates and recovery are entered into the screen that is accessed under the menu, "Tools—Input—Flow Rates Recovery," or the button with the "pump" icon. Figure 10.16 shows this input screen. This screen allows the designer to select the mix among three potential feed streams in addition to the product (or feed or concentrate) flow rate and recovery (noted as items 2 and 3, respectively). Fouling allowance is also entered in this screen. [Pg.231]

Figure 10.17 shows the membrane array configuration screen. This screen is accessed via the menu, "Tools—Input—Array Specification," or the button with the "RO membrane" icon. The designer can select up to 5 stages (called "banks") per pass... [Pg.231]

Design, tool steel selection, machining, coating and heat treatment of a successfully coated tool should not happen independently in different divisions of a company or even different companies, but in cooperation, because many interactions exist between design, tool steel, machining, coating and heat treatment of tools. [Pg.456]

Real design problems involve discrete design decisions, such as layout of reactors and choice of control scheme, as well as selection of continuous design parameters, such as reactor sizes and controller tuning. The design tools pre-... [Pg.342]

Reagent selection was not an issue as NaOH/HCl were already being used. The reaction was assumed to be virtually instantaneous, eliminating steady-state considerations. A complete design analysis was not considered justified until the decision on local containment had been made. The preliminary control analysis (Section III.B.2) was therefore used as the sole design tool. As two CSTRs with 10 minutes residence time at normal flow already existed, the analysis was carried out based on n CSTRs of this size. Application of Hoyle s correlation (Eq. [Pg.371]
