Delta parameters

The principle rheological properties which reflect the polymer process dynamics are the loss modulus (C), storage modulus (G"), dynamic complex viscosity (n ), and tan delta parameters. In simplified form the loss modulus describes the viscous or fluid component of viscosity. That is, how easily the molecules can move past each other. The storage modulus describes the elastic or network entanglement structure of the polymers. It is, therefore, sensitive to cross linking, reaction formation and the elastomeric modifiers. The complex dynamic viscosity is the combined effect of both moduli discussed. It, therefore. [Pg.190]

The delta parameter designates the initial stq> length. The next two parameters, b and g, correspond to the terms /S and g in the equation ... [Pg.447]

In other words, the delta parameters are 5b = 0.5 and 5c = 1.2, where 5 - is defined as the ratio of effective diffusion coefficient in the catalytic pores for reactant A2 relative to the effective diffusion coefficient for component... [Pg.507]

The delta parameters defined above are consistent with the following ranking in molecular size for the two reactants and one product C > A2 > B. Effective diffusion coefficients and intrapellet Damkohler numbers are species specific because pore diffusion in the gas phase varies inversely with the square root of molecular weight. Hence, larger molecules have smaller diffusivities, larger delta parameters, and larger intrapellet Damkohler numbers. Investigate the sensitivity of E vs. A to ... [Pg.507]

In practical situations the solubility parameters of the components (also called the delta parameters 8) are used to determine whether the components are compatible or not. This solubility parameter is connected to the mutual interaction term in the Flory-Huggins equation, which equation can be written for a polymer-monomer combination as... [Pg.77]

The closer the delta parameters of the both components are, the more compatible the components are. In very general and phenomenological terms it can be stated that for a polymer and a monomer (or any other low-molecular-weight-component) the criterion for solvabihty is... [Pg.77]

Analogously, two polymers are compatible and therefore can be mixed distributively if their delta parameters yield... [Pg.77]

A. Letton (Dow Chemical Company, Freeport, Texas) You said that the percent densification may be used as a measure of physical aging. It seems to me, based on the model of Kovacs et al. [A.J. Kovacs, J.J. Aklonis, J.M. Hutchinson, and A.R. Ramos, J. Polym. Sci., Polym. Phys. Ed., 17,1097-1162 (1979)] and some of the other models U.S. Chow, Macromolecules, 17, 2336-2340 (1984) R.R. Lagasse and J.G. Curro, Macromolecules, 15,1559-1561 (1982)], that you shouldn t be looking at percent densification as a direct correlation, but rather at the kinetics of the change in the relative volume parameter, the delta parameter that they use. I m wondering if you looked at that test to correlate it with physical aging ... [Pg.357]

There will be three such parallel circuits to make it 60 kVAr. To calculate equivalent capacitance and reactance in delta, we may convert it into an equivalent star as shown in Figure 23.24(b) by maintaining the same line parameters as in Figure 23.24(a). If the impedance of each phase in delta is Z, then to maintain the same steady-state line current, 4 , in star also let the equivalent impedance of each phase in star be Z. Then,... [Pg.755]

The simulations were carried out on a Silicon Graphics Iris Indigo workstation using the CERIUS molecular modeling and the associated HRTEM module. The multislice simulation technique was applied using the following parameters electron energy 400 kV (lambda = 0.016 A) (aberration coefficient) = 2.7 mm focus value delta/ = 66 nm beam spread = 0.30 mrad. [Pg.106]

The two BCs of the TAP reactor model (1) the reactor inlet BC of the idealization of the pulse input to tiie delta function and (2) the assumption of an infinitely large pumping speed at the reactor outlet BC, are discussed. Gleaves et al. [1] first gave a TAP reactor model for extracting rate parameters, which was extended by Zou et al. [6] and Constales et al. [7]. The reactor equation used here is an equivalent form fi om Wang et al. [8] that is written to be also applicable to reactors with a variable cross-sectional area and diffusivity. The reactor model is based on Knudsen flow in a tube, and the reactor equation is the diffusion equation ... [Pg.678]

We characterize the reduction process by defining the reduction temperature as the point where the C03O4 concentration has dropped to 50% and the delta reduction temperature as the temperature difference between the points at which 50% C03O4 and 50% Co were reached. These definitions are arbitrary and their values will change with experimental conditions, but they are useful for comparing samples examined at the same conditions. Both of these temperature parameters must be considered when assessing the reduction properties of the samples. [Pg.148]

In response to the concern expressed by the shellfish farmers operating in the Ebro River delta about the potential positive role of pesticides on the oyster and mussel mortalities observed in the area, our group, commissioned by and with the collaboration of the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), carried out a comprehensive study in which chemical and toxicity data were combined to assess potential toxic presures present in the delta. To this end, a combined approach scheme integrating the measurement of various general physicochemical parameters in water, quantitative chemical analysis of pesticides in water and biota, and ecotoxicity assays in water was applied to a series of samples collected at springtime (between mid-April and mid-June 2008) from six selected sites of the delta the two (northern and southern)... [Pg.263]
