The national organic certification bodies will also provide useful information on food processing standards in organic food production. As a rule, we should use only precleaned sample containers certified by the manufacturer. Manufacturers clean glass and HDPE containers for water samples according to the EPA specifications and provide a certificate of analysis with each case of containers. Metal liners for core barrels and split spoons are usually not precleaned by the manufacturer, but they may be precleaned by the distributor. If precleaned liners are not available or the level of their cleanliness is questionable, we should decontaminate them prior to sampling. In this case, we may verify the effectiveness of the cleaning procedure by collecting a rinsate sample from a cleaned liner and analyzing it for the contaminants of concern. A decision on analyzing the liner rinsate blank should be solely based on the nature of the contaminants of concern and the project DQOs.

All casualties entering a medical unit after experiencing a chemical attack are to be considered contaminated unless there is certification of noncontamination. The initial management of a casualty contaminated by chemical agents will require removal of mission-oriented protective posture (MOPP) gear and decontamination with 0.5% hypochlorite before treatment within the field MTF. 

Following cleanup, the responsible party must document the cleanup with records identifying the source of the spill, the estimated date and time of spill occurrence, the date and time cleanup was completed and description of cleanup/decontamination activities, and pre- and post-cleanup sampling. A certification statement is also to be signed by the responsible party stating that the cleanup requirements have been met and that the information contained in the records is true to the best of his/her knowledge. 

If the work is licensable, separate facilities should be provided for the workers working with asbestos. Employers must ensure that adequate changing and showering facilities are provided so that employees can clean and decontaminate themselves completely each time they leave the work area. This includes providing shampoo, soap or gel and towels. The provision of suitable hygiene facilities (also known as a decontamination unit (DCU)), should be on site and fully operational before any work (including ancillary work) commences. Maintenance records for DCUs (or copies of them) should be kept on site. The hygiene facility should not leave the site until the job is complete and the certificate of re-occupation has been issued.
