Damage healing ability

Nji, J. and Li, G. (2012) Damage healing ability of a shape memory polymer based particulate composite with small thermoplastic contents. Smart Materials and Structures, 21, paper 025011 (10 pages). [Pg.153]

H. Wang, H. Zhou, A. Gestos, J. Fang and T. Lin. Robust, superomniphobic fabric with multiple self-healing ability against both physical and chemical damages. ACS Appl Mater. Interfaces, 5,10221-10226 (2013). [Pg.255]

Living isn t easy, especially at the level of the molecules that make us. Our cells and the molecules they contain are constantly exposed to a hostile environment of viruses, bacteria, free radicals, radiation, and random chemical reactions. We live because our bodies are able to repair themselves from perpetual molecular damage. Over time, however, our bodies lose the ability to self-heal. We age. We grow frail and eventually die. [Pg.72]

Wound healing effect of carnosine is potentiated by zinc [35,91]. Its mechanism probably related to ability of carnosine to support functional activity of lymphocytes [61], to reveal the immunomodulating activity depending on age of animals and concentration of carnosine [86,92], to neutralize ROS formed in the inflammatory area. In some cases, increased formation of granulating tissues was noted which stimulated healing of damaged surface because of protein synthesis activation [86,88]. [Pg.211]

Picloram causes a mild skin irritation, although it is not a skin sensitizer in humans. Picloram is not likely to be absorbed readily through the skin. Contact with exposed eyes causes moderate irritation which heals readily corneal injury is unlikely. Inhalation of contaminated dusts may be somewhat irritating but is not likely to cause illness. Possible nausea may result from ingestion of massive amounts. Some believe that picloram may have the ability to damage the central nervous system. [Pg.2021]
