Dalma Tepe

The results of the analyses of pottery from the Solduz Valley (51 samples from Hajji Firuz, 91 samples from Dalma Tepe, and 45 samples from Pisdeli Tepe) are presented in Table I as group means and standard deviations for the elements Na, Al, K, Ca, Ti, V, Mn, Sm, Eu, and Dy. Uranium, magnesium, and barium have not been included because their values were invariably at or close to their INAA detection limit. Also, Cl has been ignored because it is accumulated from the environment during pot or sherd burial. [Pg.119]

To establish the relative internal consistency of the data, the large group of sherds from Dalma Tepe was somewhat arbitrarily divided unequally into two groups. Complete cross comparison between the sites is not feasible because the Hajji Firuz phase (ca. 5500 to 4750 B.C.), the Dalma phase (ca. 4750 to 4350 B.C.), and the Pisdeli phase (ca. 4350 to 3550 B.C.) (6) are not represented at every site. All three phases occur at Hajji Firuz, though material from the Pisdeli phase is quite limited. The Dalma phase occurs at Dalma Tepe, with a very limited amount of material attributed to the Hajji Firuz/ Dalma phase transition. Only the Dalma and Pisdeli phases occur at Pisdeli Tepe. Accordingly, temporal comparisons may be made at Hajji Firuz and Pisdeli Tepe, that yield quite different kinds of information. [Pg.123]

Of the ceramics analyzed from the Solduz Valley in northwestern Iran, only those manufactured during the Hajji Firuz phase at Hajji Firuz appear to be chemically distinguishable from ceramics made at later times at Hajji Firuz, Dalma Tepe, and Pisdeli Tepe. [Pg.127]
