Cultural Roots Analysis

Plastics China Technologies, Markets and Growth Strategies to 2008 73 [Pg.73]

Finally, the Chinese people, over the country s long and violent history of internal squabbling, civil wars and the ebb and flow of empires, have developed a wariness of foreigners that yields cynicism about the rule of law and rules in general. [Pg.75]

This section discusses the company culture that is necessary to support effective data collection and root cause analysis. [Pg.248]

Workforce Support for Data Collection and Incident Analysis Systems Few of the incident investigation and data collection systems reviewed provide any guidelines with regard to how these systems are to be introduced into an organization. Section 6.10 addresses this issue primarily from the perspective of incident reporting systems. However, gaining the support and ownership of the workforce is equally important for root cause analysis systems. Unless the culture and climate in a plant is such that personnel can be frank about the errors that may have contributed to an incident, and the factors which influenced these errors, then it is unlikely that the investigation will be very effective. [Pg.288]

How does one see the transparency of an idea One approach is through historical analysis to examine the faces of an idea in its past in order to determine if its current face is fresh or covered over by cultural makeup . Thus, I have examined the historical roots of monophyly in order to determine if its contemporary statement can be trusted to say what it means and mean what it says . [Pg.85]

Fig. 2.3 HPLC analysis of ginsenosides recovered from the spent medium of Trichoderma hamatum and Pythium irregulare isolates. A ginsenoside mixture extracted from 3-year-old ginseng roots was added to the culture medium of both T. hamatum and Pythium irregulare, recovered after several days of incubation and analyzed by HPLC. The profile of ginsenosides added to the culture medium (a) included ginsenosides Rgi, Re, Rbi, Rba, Rc, Rd, and F2, as well as gypenoside XVII (G-XVII). (b-e) Profiles of ginsenosides recovered from T. hamatum isolate 3-323 (b), and Pythium irregulare isolates BR 486 (c), BR 598 (d), and BR 1068 (e). Traditional accident models were devised to explain losses caused by failures of physical devices (chain or tree of failure events) in relatively simple systems. They are less useful for explaining accidents in software-intensive systems and for non-technical aspects of safety such as organizational culture and human decision-making. Creation of an infrastructure based on which safety analysis can function efficiently and effectively is needed. A so called safety culture for a development company and processes associated with routine tasks there, in general, is now identified as an area of root cause of accidents and that there is the greatest... [Pg.105]

Strigol has also been reported recently in root cultures of the broad-leaved herbaceous weed Menispermum dauricum54 In this way, the use of LC/MS/MS techniques has revealed a powerful analysis tool for minor compounds. By using this methodology, a new isomer of strigol, the structure yet unknown, has been detected in sorghum root exudates, and the presence of alectrol or orobanchol in cotton root exudates has been discarded.2 These results are summarized on Table 6.2. [Pg.142]
