Figure 3 shows a schematic of a cryogenic storage system, including an atmospheric vaporizer and flow controls [2]. [Pg.115]

Cady, E.C., 1975. Design and evaluation of thermodynamic yent/screen baffle cryogenic storage, system. NASA-CR-134810. [Pg.426]

The risk associated to the catastrophic rupture of the cryogenic storage system described above has been studied by applying a novel and comprehensive approach, which can be summarized in the following three steps ... [Pg.2363]

Favorable comparison to current cryogenic storage systems in terms of parasitic energy requirements for preparation. [Pg.430]

Before discussing the details of heat flows into a cryogenic storage system and the methods for reducing them to acceptable low levels, this chapter starts with building a picture of the overall thermal concept, the absorption of heat flows and their subsequent release by surface evaporation, with no boiling or vapour bubbling [2],... [Pg.19]

Heat Flows in LNG and LPG Cryogenic Storage Systems at 1 Bar Boil-off... [Pg.23]

Tanks with contents at lower than atmospheric temperature may require insulation to minimize heat absorption. The insulation must have a vapor barrier at the outside to prevent condensation of atmospheric moisture from reducing its effectiveness. An insulation not damaged by moisture is preferable. The insulation techniques presently used for refrigerated systems can be apphed (see subsection Fow-Temperature and Cryogenic Storage ). [Pg.1018]

Since heat transfer through these insulations can occur by several different mechanisms, the apparent thermal conductivity of an insulation that incorporates all of these heat-transfer possibilities offers the best means of comparing these difference types. Table III provides a listing of some accepted k values for popular insulations used in cryogenic storage and transfer systems. [Pg.188]
