Long chain alcohol esters have lower softening temperature and lower shrinkage on moulding. Polycyclohexyl methacrylate has refractor index similar to crown glass. The esters are prepared by alcoholysis of methyl ester. 

Diffusion studies were performed by using a Valia-Chen diffusion cell (Crown Glass Co., Inc., Somerville, NJ). The apparatus consisted of two half-cells, receptor cell and donor cell, with a volume of 3 mL and a side opening with a diameter of 9 mm. A magnetic stir bar was placed in each half-cell for continued agitation. Between the two half-cells a preswollen membrane was securely placed and was protected from the atmosphere to prevent evaporation of the solvent form the membrane. 

Crown glass has a refractive index of 1.51 in the visible spectral region. Calculate the reflectivity of the air-glass interface, and determine the transmission of a typical glass window.

Melamed et al. (136) describe laser oscillation in uranyl-sensitized neodymium-doped barium crown glass. They believe that the energy migrates from the uranyl to the neodymium by an electric dipole-dipole process. The results of their measurements on the uranyl lifetime, uranyl-neodymium-transfer time, and the quantum efficiency are summarized in Table VII. 

Crown-glass is now manufactured at Wairington, St. Helen s, Eccleston, Old Swan, and Newton, Lancashire at Birmingham, Hunslet, near Leeds, and Bristol,... 

It is also fabricated of oxoollont quality on the Tyne and Wear. Great improvements have recently been made in the manufacture of crown-glass, and it is asserted that this article, as made in England, is superior in quality to that of any other nation.
