The reaction is regiospecific. No conjugated addition was observed with enone. In the case of dissymmetric carbonyl compounds, two diastereoisomers were obtained with moderate diastereoselectivity depending on the nature of the carbonyl compound. 

The electroanalytical study shows the formation of Fe Br(Bpy) from electroreduction of FeBtjjBpyjn [30], The subsequent step is an oxidative addition of Fe to the activated halide. This latter iron organometallic species reacts with carbonyl compounds.
