Counts line

The first line of the connection table, called the counts line (see Figure 2-21), specifies how many atoms constitute the molecule represented by this file, how many bonds arc within the molecule, whether this molecule is chiral (1 in the chiral flag entry) or not, etc. The last-but-onc entry (number of additional properties) is no longer supported and is always set to 999. The last entry specifics the version of the Ctab format used in the current file. In the ease analyzed it is V2000". There is also a newer V3000 format, called the Extended Connection Table, which uses a different syntax for describing atoms and bonds [50. Because it is still not widely used, it is not covered here. [Pg.49]

The confectionery industry s interest in this sort of product as a count line seems to have diminished. The products are more likely to be found in multi-packs on the grocery shelves of the supermarket, aimed at the lunch box market. [Pg.227]

Figure Cl.5.2. Fluorescence excitation spectra (cps = counts per second) of pentacene in /i-teriDhenyl at 1.5 K. (A) Broad scan of the inhomogeneously broadened electronic origin. The spikes are repeatable features each due to a different single molecule. The laser detuning is relative to the line centre at 592.321 nm. (B) Expansion of a 2 GHz region of this scan showing several single molecules. (C) Low-power scan of a single molecule at 592.407 nm showing the lifetime-limited width of 7.8 MHz and a Lorentzian fit. Reprinted with pennission from Moemer [198]. Figure C1.5.12.(A) Fluorescence decay of a single molecule of cresyl violet on an indium tin oxide (ITO) surface measured by time-correlated single photon counting. The solid line is tire fitted decay, a single exponential of 480 5 ps convolved witli tire instmment response function of 160 ps fwiim. The decay, which is considerably faster tlian tire natural fluorescence lifetime of cresyl violet, is due to electron transfer from tire excited cresyl violet (D ) to tire conduction band or energetically accessible surface electronic states of ITO. Although energy resolution is rarely employed in positron camera systems, scatter is not normally a problem. This is because of the very short time window within which two photons must arrive in order to be counted. At low decay rates, the incidence of accidental events is very low, rising only slightly for those that occur as the result of scatter. Some systems employ time-of-flight measurements of the time difference between the arrival of the two photons to obtain additional information about the location of an annihilation along the line. This has been used to improve resolution and statistical accuracy. Resolution is in the range of 3—4 mm and is less dependent on position than is SPECT (16). [Pg.482]

A wide variety of particle size measurement methods have evolved to meet the almost endless variabiUty of iadustrial needs. For iastance, distinct technologies are requited if in situ analysis is requited, as opposed to sampling and performing the measurement at a later time and/or in a different location. In certain cases, it is necessary to perform the measurement in real time, such as in an on-line appHcation when size information is used for process control (qv), and in other cases, analysis following the completion of the finished product is satisfactory. Some methods rapidly count and measure particles individually other methods measure numerous particles simultaneously. Some methods have been developed or adapted to measure the size distribution of dry or airborne particles, or particles dispersed inhquids. [Pg.130]

Such significant increase of accuracy may be explained on the base of analysis of the numerical values of the theoretical correction coefficients and calculated for 1, , and for analytical pai ameter lQ.j,yipj.j,jj- Changing from lines intensities for the ratios of analytical element line intensity to the intensity of the line most effecting the result of analytical element (chromium in this case) measurement enables the decreases of the error 5 or even 10 times practically to the level of statistics of the count rate. In case of chromium the influencing elements will be titanium, tungsten or molybdenum. [Pg.442]

With the same scanning capability, it is much faster and often more useful to simply scan one line on a sample. The data is again output to a color CRT, but it is presented as the modulation of the y-amplitude, which is determined by the intensity of the X-ray signal production ftom the ROI of the element of interest. As the probe scans along the line, the CRT plots a graph of the elemental counting rates versus distance. Here again, it is usually possible to plot the data from many ele-... [Pg.131]
