Corrosion ventilation, importance

Certain sectors of industry are seeking to use lightweight and corrosion-resistant compact heat exchangers for condensation as well as for convection duties. This requirement is of particular interest in the aviation, automobile and domestic heating and ventilation industries. Also, recent interest in the concept of mobile chemical plants necessitates the use of lightweight compact heat exchangers. Such plants may well have an important role to play in the future of processing as they provide flexibility, improved inherent safety... [Pg.1119]

These two figures refer to the temperature-relative humidity complex, but there is an important difference in the environment between outdoor, sheltered, ventilated shed and indoor corrosion. Precipitation is only possible in outdoor conditions, although condensation of moisture is possible in sheltered conditions and less probable in ventilated shed. In storehouses and heat trap conditions there are no possibilities of precipitation and condensation of moisture is more difficult. [Pg.75]

The most important methods for preventing atmospheric corrosion are 1) to select a corrosion-resistant structural material, 2) to use a corrosion-resistant coating (metallic, inorganic, organic or composite), and 3) to close internal cavities in order to avoid access of humid air, or conversely, 4) to make sure that there is ample ventilation and drainage, and possibly 5) to supply oil, grease, or special substances such as tectyle to the cavities. [Pg.197]

Good welding begins with the proper installation of equipment. Installations should be made in locations that are as clean as possible, and there should be provisions for a continuous supply of clean air for ventilation. It is important to provide separate enclosures if the atmosphere is excessively moist or contains corrosive vapors. If welding must be done where... [Pg.528]

Primary issues in maintenance include potential exposure to any production material or by-product. Mechanical processes such as beadblasting can cause finely divided particles to enter the worker s breathing zone strong corrosives may be used to clean parts solvents are widely used to clean parts, fixtures and production systems. It is important that proper ventilation and personal protective equipment be used. [Pg.198]
