Cord, detonating, flexible

Detonating cord A flexible cord containing a center cord of high explosives used to detonate other explosives with which it comes in contact. [Pg.401]

CA 68, 3093(1968) (Describes an expl tape approx 5 /8-inch wide fabricated by bonding together with a w-based latex adhesive 8 strands of textile covered detonating cord having a diam of ca 0.06-inch, the expl core of which contd 4 grains of PETN/ft and was enclosed in a textile braid. This tape has sufficient flexibility so that it can be folded back on itself or tied in knots at any point w/o cracking. [Pg.1055]

Mild deton fuze is smaller than type (2) it is used to transfer detons, and has a metal sheath 4) Confined deton fuze is similar to type (3) except that the metal sheath is wrapped in fiberglas and polyethylene to contain the fragments 5) Flexible linear shaped charge is a detong cord with a V-shaped cross-section used to cut metal... [Pg.575]

Cordeau Maissin.Maissin, in 1888, patented in France the use of granulated NC as a core of flexible detonating cord (cordeau detonant souple in Fr ),which was prepd in the same manner as the safety fuse of Bickford (See Vol 2, p B112-L of this Encycl). This cord was examined by CSE (Commission des Substances Explosives) and found to be satisfactory from the point of view of performance (Ref 2) (See also Refs 3 5)... [Pg.314]

An igniting or explosive device in form of a cord, consisting of a flexible fabric tube and a core of low or high explosive. Used in blasting and demolition work, and in certain munitions. A fuse with a black powder or other low explosive core is called a safety fuse or blasting fuse. A fuse with a - PETN or other high explosive core is called detonating cord or primacord. [Pg.201]

Safety fuse A flexible cord containing an internal burning medium by which fire or flame is conveyed at a uniform rate from point of ignition to point of use, usually a detonator. [Pg.408]

Fuses are cord-like igniting devices that contain a core of low explosive sheathed in a conduit of waterproofed flexible fabric or fibre. They are crimped or connected onto detonators or other explosive charges so that they may be initiated safely from a distance. Black powder fuses, like the classic and low cost safety fuse, bum at specified rates around 130s/m. Safety fuses bum with an internal flame (although a jet of flame should be visible on ignition) and are so called to distinguish them from other fuses that bum with an external flame. [Pg.121]

Detonators Articles consisting of a small metal or plastics tube containing explosives such as lead azide, PETN or combinations of explosives. They are designed to start a detonation train. They may be constructed to detonate instantaneously, or may contain a delay element. The term includes Detonators for Ammunition and Detonators for blasting, both Electric and Non-Electric. Detonating relays without flexible detonating cord are included. UN App. B, ICAO A2... [Pg.125]
