Copper Subacetate

Copper acetate 4068-9 Cu(C2H302)2 Blnacetate of copper crystallized verdigris crystals of venus neutral acetate of copper normal acetate of copper subacetate of copper. 

Synonyms.—Copper Subacetate Diacetate of Copper - rugo Verdigris. 

Copper and Iron, — On acidifying 10 cc. of lead subacetate solution with 2 cc. of dilute acetic acid, and adding potassium ferrocyanide solution, a precipitate forms which should have a pure white color. 

CuPRI SUBACETAS. Subacetate of copper. Called Verdigris. Cupri subacetas. 

Green Ointment. Take prepared snbaceUto of copper, drachm ointment of white wax (see Ab. 4939), 7 drachms. Trit-urato tho subacetate of copper with the ointment until they are intimately mixed. A mild caustic, applied to venereal ulcers of tho mouth and tonsils, and to tho ulcerated soro throat of scarletina. 

Incompat Acids, alkalies, alum, ammonia water, amyl nitrite benzoates betanaphthol, phenol, calomel, chloral hydrate, copper sulfate, ferric chloride ferrous sulfate chromium trioxide (chromic acid), cinchona alkaloids, hydrocyanic acid iodides iodine Lead subacetate mercuric chloride, orthoform potassium permanganate, resorcinol, sod. bicarbonate sod. salicylate (in powder) soln arsenic and mercury iodide, spirit nitrous ether (unless prescribed with sod, bicarbonate), syrup ferrous iodide, tartar emetic tannic acid, thymol, urethane, infusions of catechu, cinchona, rose leaves and uva ursi tinctures of catechu, ferric chloride, cinchona, hamanielis iodine, kino, and rhubarb. 

Melt the turpentine and lard together over a water-bath, then withdraw the heat, add the subacetate of copper, and thoroughly mix by stirring the whole until cold. 

Other methods have been suggested for the preliminary purification, e.g., silver oxide, silver carbonate and lead subacetate, and copper sulphate and caustic potash, but the lead subacetate alone with care gives satisfactory results.
