Finally, some orgatiocopper compounds undergo diarge disproporLionation under die influence of ligands dial bind strongly to copper. Treatment of mesityl-copper witli 1,2-bis-idipbenylpbospbinoJediane iDPPE), for example, results in tlie fotniation of bisimesityljcopper anions and a copper cation to wbidi four pbos-pborus atoms of two DPPE molecules ate coordinated [75]. [Pg.16]

In 1996 Stack and co-workers reported an unusual 3 1 (copper 02 stoichiometry) reaction between a mononuclear copper(I) complex of a A-permethylated (lR,2R)-cyclohexanediamine ligand with dioxygen. The end product of this reaction, stable at only low temperatures (X-ray structure at —40 °C) is a discrete, mixed-valence trinuclear copper cluster (1), with two Cu11 and a Cu111 center (Cu-Cu 2.641 and 2.704 A).27 Its spectroscopic and magnetic behavior were also investigated in detail. The relevance of this synthetic complex to the reduction of 02 at the trinuclear active sites of multicopper oxidases4-8 was discussed. Once formed, it exhibits moderate thermal stability, decomposed by a non-first-order process in about 3h at —10 °C. In the presence of trace water, the major isolated product was the bis(/i-hydroxo)dicopper(II) dimer (2). [Pg.748]

A number of stable heterobimetallic copper alkyne complexes have been reported, based on the strategy of using another metal bis(alkynyl) complex as a chelating ligand for copper. The 1,4-diyne [(r -CsFGSiMe Ti-(C=GSiMe3)2]180 (or related complex) was found to stabilize the copper units GuX, with X = alkyl,180,181 vinyl,180... [Pg.182]

Many of the premetallised direct dyes are symmetrical structures in the form of bis-1 1 complexes with two copper(II) ions per disazo dye molecule. Scheme 5.12 illustrates conversion of the important unmetallised royal blue Cl Direct Blue 15 (5.43), derived from tetrazotised dianisidine coupled with two moles of H acid, to its much greener copper-complex Blue 218 (5.44) with demethylation of the methoxy groups as described above. Important symmetrical red disazo structures of high light fastness, such as Cl Direct Red 83 (5.45), contain two J acid residues linked via their imino groups. Unsymmetrical disazo blues derived from dianisidine often contain a J acid residue as one ligand and a different coupler as the other, such as Oxy Koch acid in Cl Direct Blue 77 (5.46), for example. [Pg.254]

Oxidation of 2-Butene with Oxygen, Catalyzed by Bis (1-methyl-2-acetoxypropyl) selenide. The oxidation of the selenide by oxygen proceeded only when cupric chloride was added to the system. Since cupric chloride alone did not oxidize the selenide, we believe that the oxidation proceeds through interaction of oxygen with an intermediate complex formed by the selenide with the copper halide. [Pg.348]

In tris(bis( 1,2-diaminoethane)platinum(II)dichlorobis( 1,2-diaminoe-thane)platinum(IV) ] tetrakis[tetrachlorocuprate(I) ] (52), the anion is a chain in which two- and three-coordinated copper(I) alternate (see Section II,A,2). Pairs of three- and four-coordinated copper(I) atoms alternate in [P(CH3)4][Cu2C13] (60). The lCu2Cl3J anion in the tetra-... [Pg.17]

Bis( 1,10-phenanthroline)copper(I) has an absorption spectrum which is a function of concentration. This has been attributed to oligomerization, possibly via n—K intermolecular stacking interactions. The tendency to oligomerize has a marked effect on the electrochemistry of the complex. For example, the complex exhibits extensive adsorption on the surface of a graphite electrode. The multilayers exhibit good electron mobility and the layers probably grow by reduction of surface copper(II). Rotating disc voltammetric measurements of the reduction of... [Pg.25]
