Convex lenses

If we focus the sun s beams on a surface of a composition with a convex lens, the surface will be heated gradually and catch fire. We can test the ignition sensitivity of the composition by finding the waiting time. 

Exposures of PMMA with an ArF laser at 193 nm were reported by Kawamura et al. (207). The laser beam was focused by a convex lens to increase the power density. The laser beam dose incident on the resist film was 930 mj/cm, delivered in 20 nsec. Kawamura et al. were able to image 0.5-jim lines without interference patterns. 

This consists simply of a convex lens or several combined into a system and appropriately mounted. A good example of a simple microscope is a reading glass. This type of simple microscope is valuable in field work, in the examination of dried herbarium material or the external characters of crude drugs, where only a low magnification of the object is required.
