UK was voluntarily withdrawn by Abbott Laboratories in 1999 when the FDA alerted the company about potential viral contamination in its manufacturing process. In October 2002, the FDA approved the reintroduction of UK (Abbokinase ) to the market after Abbott made significant changes to its quality control and manufacturing practices.
